Monday November 29 2010I was testing a new front page for the Signal
for about one week. It was much faster than this current framed version and contained less photos, less links, less everything.
You, the readers, did not like the renovation, the number of hits fell from 2500 to about 600 in less than a week! Therefore the Signal
is going back to the "roots", and it contains hundreds of really good links worth testing... Thanks for your confidence, you seem to prefer
the work as usual !
Monday November 01 2010Our main website - www.signalpenpals.net did not open at all on October 30 and October 31 due to bandwidth limit, i.e. too many readers !!!! Nobody could read any Signal-pages, nobody could send any new listings using the ad form. Now the problem has anyhow been solved, I doubled the bandwidth limit, there should be no difficulties in the future. NO PORNO, NO HATRED, NO BEGGING !!! NO FAKE ADDRESSES, NO FAKE PHOTOS ACCEPTED ! NO PHONE NUMBERS ALLOWED You may have wondered what this text is about... Peter, a Signal reader, noticed lately that the photo on right was used in ads of both GHMJ20-+ Labaran George and GHLG12*-+ Hassna Sampah, both claim to be honest marriage-minded Ghanaian ladies... I received just a few days ago a penpal listing from GHOJ35-+ Gifty Morrison with the photo on left, and it had been used earlier this year by another advertiser, GHOF28-+ Eskatrina Smith. Someone wrote earlier that she had succeeded in stealing a big amount of money asking for travelling expenses to meet her "future husband" abroad. USE YOUR MONEY YOURSELF, NEVER SEND LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO ANY NEW UNKNOWN PENFRIEND ABROAD ! Wednesday August 25 2010Yesterday I printed four new pages for the Signal, this time about ninety new penpal listings and a few photos. Sent the checking copies today to the advertisers, by second class surface mail. The same ads are seen on the photo ad page in the web Signal.It seems to me that some spammers are still "stealing" email addresses from Signal's penpal listings using their robots to do the work. Even I have received some emails in which the sender is "signal@sci.fi" or "raimo.kaarna@signalpenpals.net". That is NOT true, I do not send any mass emailings to anyone... And to hinder those automatic robots from collecting the email addresses I use =AT= instead of @ in the pempal listings. I receive some 400-500 emails every day and 90 % of them is spam, junk mail, advertising, lies about money transfers, inheritances, viagra etc. What about you, how many emails daily ? In a week or month ? Just let me know when writing and sending your new listings for publishing. RAIMO KAARNA, THE PUBLISHER
Tuesday May 25 2010I've printed two issues of the Signal now this year, 1/2010 contains some 250 penpals and issue 2/2010 contains 12 A4 pages - 100 penpals and information about 100 penpal papers worldwide. Buy both for US$ 10, Euro 10 or 10 IRCs.As you see from the front page on right the Signal celebrates its 50th anniversary. To commemorate the birthday I made an album of Signal photos from 1970's, 1980's, 1990's for you. There are readers in Germany, India, Indonesia, USA etc, some photos of myself and Signal's office and machinery etc. The 24 photos are in random order, without any explanations.
